Martyr's Day

On July 19th, we observe Martyrs' Day (အာဇာနည်နေ့), one of the most solemn and significant national holidays in Myanmar . This day commemorates the sacrifice of General Aung San and eight other heroic leaders—including Thakin Mya, U Ba Cho, U Razak, U Ba Win, Mahn Ba Khaing, Sao San Tun, U Ohn Maung, and Ko Htwe—who were assassinated on this day in 1947 while working to secure our nation's independence . At 10:37 in the morning, the very moment the tragedy occurred, we pause to remember their extraordinary dedication to our country . As students, Martyrs' Day reminds us of the heavy price paid for our freedom and inspires us to carry forward their vision of a united and peaceful Myanmar by striving to be responsible and honorable citizens .
