Union Day

Union Day, observed annually on February 12th, commemorates the historic signing of the Panglong Agreement in 1947, a pivotal moment that brought together representatives of the Shan, Kachin, and Chin peoples with General Aung San to pave the way for Myanmar's independence and unity . This important day celebrates the spirit of solidarity among our nation's diverse ethnic groups—Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Bamar, Rakhine, Shan and many others—who together form the rich tapestry of our Union . As we observe Union Day, we honor the vision of unity that continues to guide us, remembering that our strength lies in our togetherness. Let us embrace the values of mutual respect, understanding, and harmony that define our shared identity as Myanmar's students and citizens .
